According to the reporter, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) every year on some fruits and vegetables for pesticide residue sample content and pesticide types of testing, and to analyse the results. The ranking is based on the 2000-2009 this 10-year data analysis.

Most pesticides: apples

Among the 53 types of fruits and vegetables, more than 700 apple samples were found to have pesticide residues, accounting for 98% of the total, of which 92% of the samples had more than one type of pesticide, apples in the ‘pesticide blacklist’ ranked from last year's No. 4 to jump to the top of the list.

Celery

Celery ranked second, with pesticides detected in 96 per cent of the samples, including one sample containing 13 pesticides at the same time.

Most Pesticides: Chilli Peppers

The highest number of pesticide types goes to chilli peppers, with a whopping 97 pesticides in all samples.

The 12 fruits and vegetables with the most pesticide residues were: apples, celery, strawberries, peaches, spinach, imported nectarines, imported grapes, bell peppers, potatoes, domestic blueberries, lettuce, and kale.
